WOMAN TURNED AWAY FROM FUNERAL HOME

A supposedly dead woman surnamed You was sent to a funeral home in Taizhou, Zhejiang province - and was found to be  still alive.
She was sent by ambulance from a hospital, where her family had given up on medical treatment because of the exorbitant cots involved.
According to the hospital,  You's family said she was already dead on arrival and asked them to deliver her body to a funeral home.
A bystander donated 3,700 yuan (US$455) to the woman's family and finally  sent her back to the hospital.

COUPLE HOPE TO TREAT LARGE HAND

 A woman from Guangzhou has an extremely large right hand, with each finger resembling a carrot, which has led to discrimination.
Her palm is 17cm long, 13cm wide and 5cm thick.
She said the palm began grow abnormally when she was twelve years old, but village doctors could not work out why.
The woman stays at home to care for her child while  her husband collects rubbish to support the family.
They hope to find a cure for her affliction but are too poor to afford treatment.

WOMAN PUTS LIFE ON LINE FOR UNBORN BABY

To give her foetus mor time to develop, a 28-year old  mother-to-be with a pituitary tumor refused to have an operation until she became completely blind.
The pituitary gland disease was confirmed in  September when doctors said she needed immediate surgery.
But the woman decided to take the risk of postponing the operation for 20 days so a ceaesarean section  could be performed 37 weeks into her pregnancy.
The baby was born without difficulty and the lucky mother regained her vision after emergency surgery a  day after the giving birth in October, which surgeons said was a miracle.

 PHANTOM PREGNANCY A HEAVY WEIGHT TO BEAR

A woman who was preparingto give birth was shocked to be told that she was neven pregnant.
Earlier this year the woman's periods stopped and she started putting on weight. Her family, from a small village in Kaiping, Guangdong Province, were convinced she was pregnant.
But after 10 months of "pregnancy" during which her weight grew from 45 kilograms to 80 kilograms, the woman went to hospital.
A scan revealed nothing but fat, doctors said her periods stopped because of the sudden weight gain.

MONKS TURN FIRE FIGHTERS FOR DRILL


Monks at Zhaojuesi, a Buddhist temple in Chengdu, held a fire drill on Tuesday.
More than 200 monks were involved in the fire fighting  and rescue practice, under the driection of real fire fighters.
Temples are always vulnerable to fire because they are made of wood and pilgrims pay their respects and  worship Buddha by burning joss sticks.
The drill is part of the city's general anti-fire drive.

KILLER WASPS STRIKE DOWN CLIMBER

A climber has died after 20 members of a Taiwan mountain climbing association were attacked by a swarm of wasps.
Six other members of the group are in a critical state after being stung many times.
As the adventurers approached a mountain pass, on  October 30 the wasps set upon them for nearly half an hour.

 COWBOY ROUTINE DOESN'T FOOL TRAIN COPS

A many trying to carry an immitation revolver and seven live bullets onto a train in Xiamen, Fujian Province, was arrested.
Facing Police intergoation, the man cooly claimed the prohibited items were ":just for fun" and that he had a clean record.
Police checks confirmed the man had a record of robbery and fighting.
